Stage 02 · Articulation

CANDY.
The pattern,
given a name.

A 20-question behavioural finance assessment built on the Klontz KMSI-R. Twenty minutes that turn vague unease about money into articulate self-knowledge you can work with.

Why CANDY exists

Knowing about money does not change how you behave with it.

The gap between financial literacy and financial behaviour is not closed by more information. It is closed by language — by giving the script a name. CANDY is the moment that naming begins.

Most people who reach Pathwise can describe the symptom. They earn well but feel uncertain. They underspend out of fear, or overspend out of pursuit. They avoid statements, or read them obsessively. The behaviour is visible. The pattern beneath it is not.

CANDY is twenty questions designed to surface that pattern. Built on the Klontz Money Script Inventory–Revised — the same instrument used in peer-reviewed research at the University of Georgia and published in the Journal of Financial Therapy — it identifies the dominant scripts shaping how you relate to money. The assessment does not diagnose. It articulates.

Avoidance · Worship · Status · Vigilance. Your dominant pattern, surfaced and named.

The four scripts

The patterns most of us are following without knowing.

Each of us carries a primary script, often inherited before we knew we were learning. None of them is broken. All of them, once named, can be worked with.

Script 01

Money Avoidance

The belief that money is the source of fear or moral compromise. Manifests as avoidance of statements, plans, and conversations — even when the numbers are sound.

Script 02

Money Worship

The belief that more money will solve what is wrong. Manifests as relentless pursuit and the quiet conviction that contentment lives one earnings bracket away.

Script 03

Money Status

The belief that net worth equals self-worth. Manifests as visible spending, comparison, and a relationship with money that requires an audience to feel real.

Script 04

Money Vigilance

The belief that money must be guarded, hidden, watched. Manifests as discipline that becomes anxiety — a relationship with money governed by what might go wrong.

Begin with awareness

The first step is naming what is already there.

Take CANDY in one quiet sitting. Receive your dominant money script and the language to begin understanding it. Twenty minutes that change what you can articulate about money for the rest of your life.
